Import/Export LCL – Port of Montreal – Notice of Strike Action

Dear Clients and Partners,

Further to previous announcements regarding impending strike action by Longshoremen at the Port of Montreal, the Union has given a 72-hour notice to the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) that as of Monday, April 26th at 7:00 a.m., the members will be in legal strike position.

The Terminal Operators confirm that they will maintain regular trucking services and operations up to Friday, April 23rd, 2021 – 23:00 hrs,

All work performed by the union members will effectively cease at that time.

At this moment, carriers are evaluating their options, and we are expecting official announcements with regards to Vessel Diversion Action and additional Inland fees to come at any moment!

Please be prepared to experience some delays in the availability of your Import Cargo scheduled to arrive at the Port of Montreal and for your Export Cargo previously scheduled to depart from the Port of Montreal. Cost Recovery measures may be necessary to cover any/all additional charges resulting from the congestion and increased dwell times at the Port. Diversion fees may also apply in the near future (if/when carriers begin to divert Vessels).

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and advise of any possible labor settlement and/or vessel diversions.
