ECTN for Kenya

The Shippers Council of Eastern Africa (SCEA), eager to enhance the efficiency of the logistics value chain and to reduce detention, demurrage and storage charges for imported cargoes, is introducing the Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) system in Kenya on a trial basis with a view to ascertain its potential to reach these objectives.

The SCEA has appointed Antaser Afrique BVBA as its dedicated partner to provide the ECTN-services.

As from March 18th 2016 (BL date) all cargoes being shipped to Kenya need to be covered by an ECTN issued by the shipper at the loading port through the www.antaser.com platform and submitted to Antaser or its local sub-agents for final validation within 48 hours after vessel's departure.

The anticipated availability of shipment information, provided by the ECTN,  will allow Kenyan importers to effect pre-clearance subject to ongoing discussions with the local intervenors.

During this trial period, which will come to an end on May 18th 2016, the ECTN for Kenya will be free of charge.
Charges after this period are not known yet.

Saco can generate the ECTN for you, required documents will be copy of HB/L, commercial invoice, packing list, freight invoice and export customs document.

The official notification is available on the SCEA website www.shipperscouncilea.org via the link http://www.shipperscouncilea.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=257:information-on-advance-cargo-shipment-information-system-in-kenya&catid=1:press-room&Itemid=106
